Odisha · Temple sculpture in motion
The sculpture of Odissi, brought gently to life.
A sculptural dance of softness, strength, and ancient temple storytelling.

“The body becomes stone, and the stone begins to breathe.”

The Tradition
Sculpture drawn from stone into breath
Odissi traces its lineage to the carved friezes of Odisha’s ancient temples — the tribhangi stance, the deeply grounded chowk, the fluid torso movements that seem to pour from one shape into the next.
It holds two spirits at once: lasya, the lyrical softness of devotion, and tandava, the vigorous energy of the divine dance. At Lāsyamṛta, we teach both, so your practice carries strength and tenderness in equal measure.
Sculptural stances
Tribhangi and chowk built with patient attention to line, weight, and breath.
Torso & the fluid spine
The signature Odissi movement quality — taught progressively, joint by joint.
Lasya and tandava
Learning to hold both lyrical grace and vigorous strength within one body.
Rooted in devotion
Repertoire drawn from Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda and Odisha’s temple traditions.
In Practice
Moments from the studio.
